The Checked Shirt

It’s Christmas time and I’m very excited about my first Christmas as a mummy. Even though my baby’s not due until April, I feel like a mum.

However, I don’t have too much time to dwell on it, even though I’d like to, as I am so busy this Christmas. I’m not off work for long so I have lots of people to see and lots of last-minute gifts to buy in a short space of time. I’ve found that I get hotter easier now I’m pregnant and so for my Christmas Eve shopping and distributing presents day, I opted for a classic checked shirt.

My skin is also more sensitive these days, so I’m always looking for fabric that feels nice next to my skin. Finally, I found the ideal shirt for me on the High Street. The red check dip back roll sleeve shirt is now just £14 from New Look (it was £19.99 when I bought it). I like to wear a black top underneath as it’s chilly at this time of year and the shirt has a habit of riding up and I don’t feel ready to show my bare belly to the world just yet. I have the Seraphine boat neck long sleeve top, which is ruched at the side so it keeps it’s shape as I grow.

The black super skinny maternity jeans are from Seraphine and at £49 they’re great value when you consider the price per wear. I reckon I wear mine every other day! The black stretch back buckle knee high boots are now just £21 at New Look, but they’re selling out fast so if you don’t manage to get these in your size I suggest looking in New Look for some other boots. They’re all reasonably priced and I find the size is wider than normal, which is important for pregnant feet.
